Carmen X

She works at the bakery across the street. She has a mole under her right eye and a splash of freckles across her cheeks. As a result, she, Paula, finds herself over there often, and then, eventually, too often.
She, Paula, always imagines how it’d go. It’d go something like:
Hi.
Hey.
How are you?
Good. Hey. I finally have a book to recommend.
Yeah?
Have you read any Rohmer?
Haven’t, no.
You might like it. I don’t know. Just a thought. I can lend you my personal copy. If you
like.
Oh yeah?
Sure.
Then, yeah, sure.
Then I’ll swing by with it next time. Are you here tomorrow?
Things will, of course, proceed swimmingly from there. How it really goes, however:
Hi.
Hey.
How are you?
Good. I’m good.
Yeah?
Yeah. Yes. Yeah.
And then, she, Paula, would then get her cake and cup of English breakfast tea; after
several weeks her waistline has changed several sizes, like tree rings over time.

Carmen X is (hopefully only for now) a U.S.A. based writer. They are the author of the online novel imagebook. They promise the X really has no meaning in particular.
